A still from Deadpool & Wolverine

I have never felt freer than playing Wolverine: Jackman

Actor Hugh Jackman, who is receiving a lot of positive response for his latest superhero movie Deadpool & Wolverine, has opened up on what he loves about playing Wolverine. Jackman said that what intrigues him about the character is the human part of him, which he finds more appealing than the claws or the healing power. Jackman also said that to him, playing Wolverine is like therapy. “One of my best friends told me, ‘Do you have a reservoir of rage in there? That is terrifying’. But [playing Wolverine] is the best therapy ever. You said it about Deadpool, I feel the same. I never feel more free than playing Wolverine,” he said. He further mentioned, “In many ways, on the surface, [he is] different from me and yet there are so many parts of him that I love. There are parts of him that I’m thrilled about and I’m not, but I love living in that character.” The actor feels that both Deadpool and Wolverine are in a shame spiral, but they handle it very differently. “I find the human part of him more interesting than even the claws or the healing ability because that’s where the rage comes from”, he explained. Deadpool & Wolverine is the 34th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and is the third instalment to Deadpool (2016) and Deadpool 2 (2018). The film, directed by Shawn Levy, also stars Ryan Reynolds, Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, and Matthew Macfadyen.  This story has been sourced from a third party syndicated feed, agencies. Internet reacts to Tom Cruise being forcibly kissed by woman at Paris Olympics

The Paris Olympics 2024 ended with the closing ceremony at Stade de France. It was arranged to celebrate the completion of the sports spectacle and witnessed the hosts of the current edition, Paris, pass over the reigns to Los Angeles, the site of the next edition of the Olympic Games in 2028. Hollywood star Tom Cruise, who was also present at the event, was forcibly kissed by a woman at the venue, a video of which has gone viral.  How’d that lady almost make out with Tom Cruise on international TV ๐Ÿ˜‚#ClosingCeremony pic.twitter.com/IxtmIUPdcA — Georgia Rose ๐Ÿ‡ฟ๐Ÿ‡ฆ ๐Ÿ‰ (@Rasheeda_S) August 11, 2024 Netizens have called it out, questioning the outrage if roles were reversed, and labelling it harassment.  One user on X wrote, “Pushy lady. People should not ever do what she did to anyone, celebrity or otherwise. You don’t grab and kiss a person, especially a person you don’t even know in any way, and twice, like that. It’s very rude to force yourself onto them that way. Tom Cruise is so gracious.” “As usual, people making fun of it. Just imagine the outrage if the genders were reversed!” added another.  One user commented, “This is really not funny At All, people need to learn to keep their hands off celebrities.” At the closing ceremony, Tom Cruise channelled his inner Ethan Hunt, his iconic character from the blockbuster ‘Mission: Impossible’ films with a daring skydiving stunt. The 62-year-old descended from the top of the gigantic Stade de France to the ‘Mission: Impossible’ theme song, shook hands with the athletes on his way to the stage, took the Olympic flag from star gymnast Simone Biles, and carried it on a bike through Paris streets to a cargo plane ready to take off for Los Angeles. Cruise, who shot his 2018 film "Mission: Impossible Fallout" in Paris, later on his official X account shared a selfie when he was in the air suspended from the safety cables above the stadium. "Thank you, Paris! Now off to LA," he captioned the photo. In a pre-recorded segment after being lowered on a rope live from the roof's giddy heights, Cruise drove his bike past the Eiffel Tower, onto a plane, and then skydived over the Hollywood Hills. Three circles were added to the O's of the famed Hollywood sign to create five interlaced Olympic rings. Multiple time zones away, Grammy winner Billie Eilish, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and rapper Snoop Dogg along with his longtime collaborator Dr. Dre took over to begin an evening of fun and music. Emmy Award-winning artist Gabriella Sarmiento Wilson, popularly known as H.E.R., sang the US national anthem live from the Parisian stadium, crammed with more than 70,000 people.  (With inputs from Agencies)

Anne Marie

Sound check: Snap review of new music

Anne-Marie’s new single Worth your time: Yes Cry baby marks Grammy-winning British pop trio Clean Bandit’s official return to music, and features chart-topping vocalist Anne-Marie and internationally acclaimed DJ, David Guetta. Seemingly targeted at young women engulfed in bad relationships, the single sees Marie deliver a playful track in which she celebrates her independence from an undeserving man. Groovy though the number may be, the lyrics make the protagonist’s pain evident. Cry baby may be far distanced from the pressing and pivotal tracks Clean Bandit has previously released, but the trio manages to pull off a single that will surely be a hit at nightclubs for its ability to get a listener on the dance floor. Guetta’s beats don’t disappoint and work to lift the single when the rendition falters. Joaquin Phoenix walks out of gay romantic film after getting cold feet

Joaquin Phoenix has unexpectedly exited Todd Haynes' highly anticipated untitled gay romance film, just five days before production was scheduled to commence in Guadalajara, Mexico. Variety has confirmed that this sudden departure has left the project in disarray, with significant financial and logistical repercussions. Phoenix, who had been deeply involved in the development of the screenplay alongside Haynes and Jon Raymond, reportedly decided to withdraw from the film at the last moment. According to reports obtained by Variety, the actor experienced "cold feet," despite the extensive preparation already completed, including the construction of elaborate sets. The film, which was produced by Killer Films and supported by sales agent MK2 Film, had already secured international distribution agreements prior to Phoenix's departure. The unexpected exit has raised concerns about the project's viability, with industry insiders suggesting that Phoenix's role cannot be easily recast, according to Variety. This predicament has reportedly resulted in a halted production and potential financial losses exceeding seven figures, affecting both the crew and the film's stakeholders. Danny Ramirez, joined the cast in July to play Phoenix's love interest. The film, described by Haynes as a "love story between two men set in the '30s with explicit sexual content," was expected to be rated NC-17 and push boundaries with its portrayal of a challenging relationship, reported Variety. Speculation among the crew points to the film's graphic sex scenes as a possible reason for Phoenix's withdrawal, as per Variety. However, this theory is met with confusion, as Phoenix had originally championed the film's NC-17 concept and its provocative themes. Haynes had previously shared that the film began with Phoenix's "fragments of ideas," which the director and Raymond then developed into a narrative.
